Kerry B. Gunning, PhD
Director of Laboratory Operations
Dr. Gunning has over 29 years of experience in molecular biology and biotechnology. He is an expert in nucleic acid hybridization, whole genome amplification, microarrays, NGS, and single genome isolation and analysis. He has several patents and applications in these fields.
Prior to joining MNG, Dr. Gunning has held scientific research and development positions at Integrated DNA Technologies, Celula, CBRITE, and GeneDx. He was instrumental in the development and optimization of techniques for the isolation of circulating fetal nucleated red blood cells from maternal blood and of novel assays for the amplification, identification, and analysis of single genomes at Celula. During his tenure there, he was also one of the key team members that opened and established a clinical lab in China.
Dr. Gunning received his B.S. degree in Genetics and Cell Biology from the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. in Human and Molecular Genetics from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in conjunction with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. He also received his post-doctoral training from the Medical School at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston.
