For all STAT testing, it is preferred that samples are sent as trios to allow for better variant classification and actionable reports, but proband only testing is accepted.

Accepted Sample Types for WES and WGS:

Blood

Whole Blood: 4 mL in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube, minimum volume 2 mL

Oral

One buccal swab, available through MNG

Prenatal
  • Cultured Amniocytes*: Two T-25 flasks (greater than 85% confluency)
  • Chorionic Villi*: Two T-25 flasks (greater than 85% confluency)
  • Extracted DNA: 4 micrograms (3 micrograms minimum).  Genomic DNA should be eluted in sterile Dnase/Rnase free water or TE. The A260:A280 ratio should be 1.8-2.0.
  • Cord Blood: 2 mL cord blood must be collected in an EDTA vacutainer.

Blood

Whole Blood: 4 mL in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube, minimum volume 2 mL

STAT services can be applied to most testing available through MNG Laboratories including next-generation sequencing panels and biochemical testing. A STAT test request form available at mnglabs.com/testing/forms is required, and additional fees apply.

STAT testing can only be ordered through MNG directly and is institutional bill or patient pay only.
